Research AssistantPBS / MATH
Ruiyang Cen is an undergraduate student double-majoring in Psychology & Brain Sciences and Mathematics at UC Santa Barbara. Her research interests center on human-computer interaction, visual perception, and the design of assistive technologies for people who are blind or visually impaired.
She is particularly interested in understanding how people perceive, interpret, and respond to feedback from technological systems, and how those systems can be designed around users’ actual needs. Drawing on her background in behavioral research, brain-computer interfaces, and the visual arts, she hopes to contribute to research in the Bionic Vision Lab on accessible navigation and assistive technology while developing a deeper understanding of how vision shapes cognition and interaction with the world. Beyond research, she has been active in interdisciplinary project leadership, community education, youth programs, and science communication.
