How are visual acuity and daily activities affected by visual impairment? Previous studies have shown that vision is altered and impaired in the presence of a scotoma, but the extent to which patient-specific factors affect vision and quality of life is not well understood.

Yolanda He is an undergraduate student at UC Santa Barbara majoring in Biopsychology. She joined the Bionic Vision Lab as a research assistant in Fall of 2023 and currently serves as the lab manager. She is interested in how neuroscience and vision research can inform the development of assistive technologies and deepen our understanding of human perception.
Outside of the lab, she is a member of the UCSB competitive cheer team and works as a medical assistant in psychiatry. She also enjoys spending time with her friends and trying new restaurants.
